This footstool is hand stitched by Hausa craftsmen in Northern Nigeria from naturally tanned and dyed leather.
Hausa people are the largest ethnic group in Northwestern Nigeria and Southern Niger and are renowned for their leatherworking, weaving and silversmithing.
These leather poufs are completely handmade in very small quantities by African artisans for their local market.
This is item is sold unstuffed and can easily be filled with a variety of readily available household materials for different levels of firmness including polyester balls, old clothing and fabrics, towels, pillows, cushions etc.
